10 steps to your freedom-based business

Freedom based business

You came to do two things, enjoy your life while you change other peoples...

The answer my friend is launching your own digital products.

The online education space is set to grow to being a TRILLION dollar industry by 2028 - that means if you’re a teacher, course creator, mentor, VA, Web designer or service provider on the internet, now is the time to make shit happen…

Traditional jobs just don’t cut it anymore - life’s pricey… investing in something with uncapped earning potential is one of the best ways to go!

3 reasons why you should start an online business

1. You don't need a lot of money to start

The cost to creating a digital product is relatively inexpensive, especially when you're just starting out. All you really need is a laptop, an online platform, like Kajabi and some basic tools/apps. As your sales grow you can start to gradually invest more money back into your business to upgrade your tools and level up the quality of your content.

Once your digital product is created it can then be sold repeatedly with no additional cost to you.

2. Greater impact

The reason most of us start a business in the first place is because we want to help a lot of people. But when we're selling our time for money as a consultant, coach, VA, or a teacher we are only ONE person, and there are only so many hours in a day - so we get capped - limited in how many people we can actually help before we burn out.

But with a digital product we can hold space for an unlimited number of clients, any where in the world.

3. More freedom

Imagine sitting on the beach in Cape Town, or exploring cafes in a new city when you get a notification that you've just made $5,000 in sales. This is the power of evergreen content and a great marketing strategy.

You get to take a holiday without your sales coming to complete stop.

5 examples of digital products

N.1 courses

From meditation, house plants, copywriting to personal finance, no matter your passion or skill set, you can turn your knowledge into income with an online course.

An online course is just like an in-classroom course except that you teach online via text, video, and audio assets. Your customers learn via modules based on the name of the course and the material you want to convey.

Customers can take your course in their own time without having to worry about meeting deadlines or stressing themselves out. Plus, you can create courses of different sizes and at different price points.

Some people create dozens of courses, while others stick to one flagship course. It’s entirely up to you. Plus, down the line, you can create other digital products that complement your courses.

N.2 memberships

A membership site is a business where customers get access to content for members. Often, membership sites are paid and the content is exclusive. A membership site is a way to make money for your content, but not through advertising. Instead, people pay for the content because they respect your knowledge and want to learn from you.

The membership content can include: a regular Masterclass, articles, videos, group coaching calls.

You should create a membership site if you're interested to create an online community around your content. It’s a great way to establish your authority, build loyalty among your fans, and stay connected with the people who want to hear from you.

Yes, you can do all of those things on a regular blog or site. Yet, a membership site lets you get paid for your effort.

You should only start a membership site if you’re willing to jump in with both feet. Your customers will expect to receive regular, valuable content.

N.3 templates

There’s a world of people who want a head start on whatever it is that they’re working on.

You have an opportunity to create a template that targets your ideal clients. You can save them time because you know what specific information and assets they need.

A Canva template is one of the simplest digital products to sell, even if you’ve never created a digital product before.

Examples: a webinar slide deck template, excel templates, Canva templates, business contracts, checklists, worksheets, planners, journals, content calendars, brand kits or social media packages. Notion templates, Creative Brief templates, copywriting templates.

N.4 services

You can create service bundles for your 1:1s. For example a fitness instructor could create 5-week personalised program or a life coach can create specific coaching 3/6/12 month packages. Because these are more personalised and require more access to you - these packages will be limited and therefore higher ticket prices.

This could be something you upsell alongside another digital product.

N.5 tutorials, guides, recipes

We live in a DIY culture. People want to learn how to do things themselves. They want to learn everything they can about subjects that interest them.

Examples: Travel Guides, Nutrition, Meal Plans, Self-Care guides, Meditation, Breath work, Sub-conscious reprogramming.

How to start your online business in 10 steps

Look - there are a lot of people on the internet who will tell you how easy it is to make a million dollars while you're chilling in Bali. I used to be skeptical of these too. Until I started to do this for myself and I can tell you this works. It will blow your mind how good it feels to know you're helping more people, making bank while you're out living your life. It does get to be easy - but the truth is you're going to need a solid strategy you can rely on and a brand that stands out. These are the prerequisites you need to launch a successful online business. Putting this work in upfront will pay off.

N.1 activate the boss inside of you

N.2 know your mission

N.3 define your dream client

N.4 build an in-demand brand

N.5 get smart with your content

N.6 choose the best platform

N.7 choose your topic

N.8 validate your idea

N.9 launch your course

N.10 amplify your results

I'm going to walk you through each one of these, step by step. A lot of this is going to be the stuff they don't tell you. But this is what it takes. And is it worth it? Hell yes. I love the process of launching online businesses + I love teaching others how to do it. It literally lights my soul on fire.

P.S there are no glass ceilings on the internet so your earning potential is uncapped. The only limits, caps and rules are the ones you put on yourself. Watch out for those.

N.1 activate the boss inside of you

First up, you need to own it. You are creating something incredible that helps other people. When you truly believe that, you feel connected to what you’re selling and people feel that. You’ll be able to sell with more confidence, ease and fun. There is a leader inside of you, it just needed to be activated, and only you hold the key. To achieve you need to become.

N.2 know your mission

You have unique gifts that can help a lot of people creating a ripple effect you might not be able to see - yet. For example you could teach people how manage your money and it could change a family’s life for generations to come. So let go of playing small, look at the bigger impact, and claim it. A bigger mission will move you, motivate you and help others feel part of something bigger than themselves.

N.3 define your dream client

Who would you love to help? Get specific. Think of one person who represents your dream client. You want to work with more of them. ‘Cause the truth is there are people who are going to vibe with you, they just get it and working with them is fun. And there are people who are not for you and working with them will be difficult. For example: if your methods are progressive, you probably don't want to work with closed-minded people, you want people who are open to new ideas, who are curious, love to learn, are ok getting a little uncomfortable. You are not for everyone. Set your terms.

N.4 build an in-demand brand

Look at what everyone else is doing and then be as different as you possibly can. Be You. Literally, no one has your story, experiences, and personality. So what’s the VIBE? Make a list of what you stand for and what you don’t. If everyone in your industry is fluffy and fake, be the radically honest and direct one. Be bold. (Learn more about how Astrology can help you find your Brand Identity).

N.5 get smart with your content

I know every social media guru loves to tell you how many times you need to post a day, but listen, posting to IG all day is not the vibe. If you love it, go for it. But if not. You need an exponential content strategy that works for you, even when you’re not around. We call it evergreen content, think a Blog, Podcasts, Youtube. Content lives here forever and doesn't disappear after 24 hours.

N.6 choose the best platform

The good news is I’ve tested a lot of them so there’s only one that I use and recommend right now. It’s intuitive, easy and ALL-in-ONE. I promise you before I found this tool, I was living in a tech nightmare. But now you don't need to be tech expert to create an online course. Kajabi has the setup ready for to launch.

You can try it out for free with this 30-day free trial. (Full disclosure I am a partner, but that’s only because I believe in it that much)

N.7 choose your topic

What are you really passionate about teaching and something you know people are interested in, and willing to pay for. The subject can literally be anything. You don't have to have PHD on the subject - you just need to be a few steps ahead of your audience on that particular topic. Think about teaching your younger self something you wish you knew sooner. That could be who you were just 1 year ago, 5, 10 years ago.

N.8 validate your idea

Before you go and invest time into creating your course material - it's a good idea to test it out first. Speak to someone who represents your dream client, ask them if this is something they would be interested in, or start a poll on your IG Stories and give people options that can choose from. Start a waitlist to see how many people sign up. If you don't get a lot of response - then before you go ahead and scratch the whole idea, review your messaging. Make sure it's clear, did people understand what your selling? It might just be your message that needs tweaking.

N.9 Launch your course

This is the fun part. I have two strategies that I like to use when it comes to launching and actively selling my products. One is for signature programs and it does require more of my time and energy, so I call this the All-IN strategy. The other one is called Flow and it’s more intuitive, light and easy. Once you have a strategy you can rely on, you just need to get your mindset and energy right. You are a mf’n boss. You were meant to do this.

N.10 amplify your results

Take some time after you’ve launched to review what’s worked and where you need to make some changes. There are always going to be lessons in your launches. And I’ll be honest with you, your first launch might suck. Don’t make it mean anything about you - the only thing this means is we need to get your strategy, mindset and energy aligned so you can 100% back this incredible thing you’ve created and see the ripple effects of your impact.

If it's on your heart, you are here to bring it to life.
